Hair transplant surgery was first introduced in 1959 by dermatologist Dr. Made by Norman Orentreich. Hair follicles were taken from the nape area that is resistant to hair loss, and hair transplant was performed to areas where the hair is open or thinning. The definition of a zone resistant to hair loss, “donor dominance,” formed the basis of hair transplantation.
Both FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) and FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation) techniques used in hair transplantation are methods that can be applied under local anesthesia and can produce natural results in suitable candidates. Hair transplantation is performed in an environment where the patient is very comfortable for 5-8 hours of thousands of hair follicles.
